Canada's National Arts Centre (NAC) plays a key role in the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards. A dynamic partnership between the Awards Foundation and the NAC has been forged to enhance the profile of the awards and their distinguished recipients. Celebrate - Recognize - Inspire

Canada has produced some of the world's foremost artists and arts volunteers, whose passion and dedication have inspired people in communities large and small, across the country and around the world. Each year, the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards shine a spotlight on these phenomenal people who enrich our lives with their magic.

The Governor General's Performing Arts Awards are Canada's most prestigious honour in the performing arts. Since 1992, the Awards have celebrated Canada's best — artists who have propelled their talent and vision to the highest level and made an enduring contribution to culture in Canada. Whether they are performers, creators, or volunteers, the recipients of these Awards are the performing arts "heroes" who move, entertain and inspire us.
